Reflection

Many of the projects completed in my time working on the MSIT program have been geared toward this standard. This standard focuses on collaboration with students, parents, and peers in an innovative way. Another importance with this standard is communication, demonstration, and facilitation of digital tools in a way that is current for the student to stay up on the most effective and successful tool in learning. To access the linked projects, you can either click on the picture in the artifacts box on the left side or on the paragraph heading in the list below.

  • Wix. This website tool was used to create a personal website that I could use to let people know more about me and my experiences so far. This tool can also be used with parents as a communication tool for them to get a hold of me and learn more about my teaching qualifications. I believe this project meets the standard by demonstrating that I know how to create a website for a variety of uses. It also shows another creative and innovative way for me as a teacher to be able to connect with my students, peers, and parents.

  • Google Sites. This is another website tool that can be used to create tutorials and other types of communication sites. I believe this project meets the standard by giving a way that a course or tutorial can be made available to parents, students, or someone in the work force that would need to learn the content. This project helps communicate to students when their deadlines will be as well as gives other needed information needed for a course.

  • Google Survey. Something that is often overlooked is a way for teachers to get feedback from parents. A Google survey tool can be used to get feedback from parents or other peers to gain more information about a student's background. I believe this project met the standard by using a digital tool to gain information. This project also meets the standard by learning more about the student in order to support their success and innovation.

Future Learning Goals

Standard III gives teachers a challenge to stay current on new technologies and know how to use them in the classroom. Many of these projects I have completed have given me the confidence to know how to build course websites as well as use other online tools to collaborate with students, peers, and parents. I will definitely be using blogs, surveys, and website building tools to facilitate learning in the future. Learning these newer tools also encourages me to stay current on the newest tools available to teachers. These exciting features can add spice to what could tend to be a dull and boring class period.
